About
Christopher D. Maxwell is an Associate Professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. He is also an Associate Research Scientist in the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research at the University of Michigan where he directs the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data. Dr. Maxwell's research interests include testing for the benefits and costs of sanctions and therapeutic treatments for spouse abusers, the impacts of police and court services on victims of domestic violence, the epidemiology of violence against women by intimates, and the extent and correlates of sexual assault by and against adolescents. His research has been supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute of Justice, the Office Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the H. F. Guggenheim Foundation, and the State of Michigan. He has published articles in several referred journals including Criminology, Criminology and Public Police, Justice Quarterly and Journal of Quantitative Criminology. Dr. Maxwell earned B.A. degrees in psychology, sociology and criminal justice from Indiana University-Bloomington (1990), and M.A. (1994) and Ph.D. (1998) degrees in criminal justice from Rutgers University.
