My research interests include primary prevention of gendered violence, promoting the health and well-being of youth, comprehensive sex education, youth as social change agents, and raising critical consciousness of systemic oppression and specifically rape culture. My master's thesis focused on middle school students' experiences of gendered violence, titled "Being a target and a witness: Exploring middle school students' sexual harassment experiences."

Community involvement
I am currently participating and assisting in the development of the Capital Area Sexual Assault Response Team (CASART). I work with law enforcement, individuals from the criminal justice system, sexual assault nurse examiners, and advocates in the Lansing area to improve the community services and responses to sexual assault. I have taken an active role in the development of CASART's policies and procedures, as well as the development of tools to evaluate the coordinated response and participation in sexual assault prevention efforts and violence against women community awareness efforts.
